CLINICS OFFERED & COURSE DESCRIPTIONS*
TRAIL RIDING - Designed to be held locally at East Fork, Big South Fork, or Catoosa Ridge. You may organize a group and/or look for a posting on this website. A typical ride consists of working thru problems and obstacles promoting trail safety with your horse. Rides will start in the morning ending in the afternoon. Pack a lunch.
COLT STARTING - This clinic is designed for the young horse that has not been ridden, typically a two or three year old. Older problem horses are welcome but keep in mind you will be following the colt-starting method. You will be riding your colt by the second day.
FOUNDATION CLINIC - This clinic is the basis of all good horsemanship. It is approximately 40% groundwork and 60% riding. Respect carries from the ground to the saddle. Hundreds of riders of all ages have benefitted from this solid foundation work and riding from the ground.
HORSEMANSHIP - This clinic is all riding. You are expected to know your groundwork and have it done before saddling up. Softness, lightness, footfall, leg yield, proper leads, and smooth transitions are emphasized. One on one time allows you to improve in areas you feel need work and/or are having problems.
ADVANCED HORSEMANSHIP - This clinic is 90% riding with 10% liberty work. Increased softness, lightness, proper positions for spin, side pass and half-pass, and if ready, flying lead changes.
* All Clinics are group format in the morning with one on one time in the afternoon. Special agenda may be made with any privately held clinic or group.
* Auditors are welcome at all Clinics at $25 per day.

Commentary: "People ask me all the time: Why do groundwork? My answer is simple: RESPECT. Horses do not ride other horses as humans do. A horse has respect for another horse when gained from the ground and the ability to move & control another horse's feet. Groundwork is ridingas well as cueing from the ground. Groundwork teaches the horse the same cues you will use in the saddle. It improves the dexterity in your hands which must be as soft as possible or as firm as necessary when riding. Groundwork allows you to go back to basics (your foundation) at any given time, in order to figure out any 'problem' you may be having in communicating with your horse (partner) now or in the future. If you cannot partner-up with your horse from the ground, you will have a difficult time partnering-up in the saddle. Groundwork creates and maintains respect and leadership for the human. It allows balance for the horse and rider." ~Justin Case
